Rev. Chad Scruggs - Campus Minister

Chad and Jada are originally from Tennessee, and first met as college freshmen at the University of Tennessee.  After graduating from college, they remained at UT where Chad directed a local campus ministry for three years.  They then packed their bags and headed to St. Louis, MO, the home of Covenant Theological Seminary, where Chad worked hard to finish his M. Div. degree and Jada worked harder as an event planner to put food on the table.  Ministering to college students has been a love of Chad and Jada for many years now, and both are excited about the opportunity that the Lord has now given them to serve students at SMU (since January 2007).  In April 2007, their family grew a little (about 7 pounds) with the birth of their first child, John Randall.  They are expecting their second son, Charlie, in June of 2009.

Rachel Stevener - Intern

A Chattanooga, TN native, Rachel moved to Nashville, TN in 2003 to attend Vanderbilt University  where she learned how to organize and develop humans (Major: Human and Organizational Development), write pretty (Minor: English), and fall in love (MRS. Degree: Crawford Stevener) :).  After their wedding in August 2007, Rachel and Crawford moved to Dallas for Crawford's job in Bank Consulting, and, unexpectedly, for Rachel's future career as an elementary school P.E. teacher.  Realizing that dodge ball was not her ultimate calling, Rachel was thrilled to become an intern for RUF at SMU the summer of 2008, her dream job come true.  Seriously.  In addition to loving Jesus and college students, Rachel also loves ice cream, hugs, mint julep cups, when people remember her name, dance parties, singing to Patty Griffin, Pilates, and her family.
