Rev. Chad Scruggs - Campus Minister

Chad and Jada are originally from Tennessee, and first met as freshmen at the University of Tennessee.  After graduating from college, they remained at UT where Chad directed a local campus ministry for three years.  They then packed their bags and headed to St. Louis, MO, the home of Covenant Seminary, where Chad worked hard to finish his Master's degree and Jada worked harder as an event planner to put food on the table.  Ministering to college students has been a love of Chad and Jada for many years now, and both are excited about the opportunity that the Lord has now given them to serve students at SMU (since January 2007).  In April 2007, their family grew a little (about 7 pounds) with the birth of their first child, John Randall.  In June 2009, Charlie was born.  In December 2011, Carter arrived, giving them the well-earned "boy trifecta." Jada has been promoted to princess in residence.

Leslie Peacock - Women's Ministry Coordinator

Leslie is originally from Atlanta, Georgia where she got her fill of peaches, Braves games, and terrible traffic. She attended Furman University in Greenville, SC, earning a degree as a professional reader (English).  Leslie then served as an RUF intern at Auburn University for 3 years.  After completing the internship, she moved to St. Louis, MO to pursue a Master's in Counseling at Covenant Seminary.  Since graduation in 2009, Leslie has been counseling women of all ages.  She is excited to return to the South(west) to care for young women at SMU. When she's not doing that, Leslie loves to cook, read, be outside, and watch Florida State football.

Stewart Swain - Men's Ministry Coordinator

Mr. Swain is also an alum of Southern Methodist University. A self-proclaimed carpetbagger, Stewart loves the South. Stewart graduated with a degree in Marketing and a Spanish minor.  He is from Glen Ellyn, IL, a suburb 45 minutes west of Chicago.  In addition to picking up degrees at SMU, Stewart also started to think about life for the first time.  Through broken circumstances and seeing his own brokenness, Stewart became a Christian.  He spent the last two years working for RUF at Wake Forest, and is very excited to be back at SMU.  Besides working with RUF, Stewart is attending Redeemer Seminary.  He loves Garden and Gun Magazine, fishing, Mexican food, and honey butter chicken biscuits (Hutter Chiscuits).  Feel free to contact him.

Christina Maxwell - Women's Intern

Christina grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended Southern Methodist University earning a degree in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. After graduating in 2011, Christina served as the RUF intern at the University of Alabama for 1 year. In June 2012 Christina married Phillip Maxwell, who is also an SMU grad from Atlanta, Georgia and is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Redeemer Seminary. Christina and Phillip are thrilled to be back in Dallas and excited for the chance to do ministry at their Alma Mater. Christina and Phillip love to watch TV, be outdoors, listen to (and play) music, and cheer on their favorite Dallas teams including the SMU ponies, Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers!

Higginbottoms

Robby Higginbottom - College Director at Park Cities Pres.

Robby and Ann both grew up in Dallas and even went to the same high school, but they didn’t meet until 2006 when Robby was working with one of Ann’s best friends at Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC).  This friend (Kim Sayles, another RUF volunteer) gave a strong push to Robby and a bold prediction to Ann.  Kim was right, and Ann and Robby got married in 2008 while Robby was working with high school students and Ann was pursuing a career as a writer and photographer.  In 2011 Robby became the director of college ministry at PCPC and has enjoyed partnering with SMU RUF over the last two years.  Ann and Robby are grateful for the opportunity to walk with college students and have a particular heart for helping them connect with the local church.  Robby serves with the RUF music team on Tuesday nights and teaches a college class at PCPC on Sundays at 9:30.  Robby loves watching and playing sports, strumming guitars, and enjoying all the good food around Dallas.
